How has this current election cycle left you feeling?

I didn’t want to write about it, and then I thought about something that I just have to share.

After Sunday’s announcement this reel expressed my initial sentiments:

After posting several memes to my stories (to dissociate from reality), I realized that my nervous system was in a state of fight/flight.

As I saw more people share about being overwhelmed living in continuous “unprecedented times”, I knew I wasn’t alone.

It feels like they want us to be in a state of fight/flight and frazzled leading up to the election.

Now maybe THEY (whoever they are… Papa Pope?) aren’t really manipulating anything and this is just how things are unfolding for many reasons the public may not be privy to.

We will probably never know.

Nonetheless, this is reality.

Once I accepted reality, I knew I needed to disengage.

I needed to stop reposting funny election memes.

I needed to spend some time befriending my nervous system.

So I did my fave nervous system reset breathwork practice.

I realized that I can allow myself to be overwhelmed by this election cycle OR I can approach it with nervous system resilience. (I prefer nervous system resilience over “regulated nervous system”.)

Nervous system resilience doesn’t mean a state of detachment, toxic positivity, nor inaction.

On the contrary, it allows one to take meaningful action from a place of great resolve and intention.

Whether you think our future options are plentiful or limited, I want to encourage you to be intentional and committed to getting out of your head and into your body during this election cycle, and from that place, lead change.

Create intentional time for regenerative movement, soul soothing breathwork, and the art of just being.
