For Black people, as an act of sacred remembrance, may you frolick in be free in all the ways that nourish today! Happy Juneteenth!

For white people, as an act of sacred remembrance, this is time (especially if you have a paid day off work) to do the work of repair.

  • Have you lobbied your elected officials for reparations? What about other political issues unjustly impacting Black people at the local, state, and federal levels?
  • How are you fighting back against fascism?
  • Did you dedicate time and energy to your local orgs that elevate equity and justice for Black people?
  • Did you lean into discomfort as you help your white family members and co-workers not perpetuate harm through racism?
  • Are you speaking up and speaking out for your Black friends and colleagues in personal, professional, and social spaces?
  • Are you doing your own inner work to challenge the racist thoughts and beliefs that white supremacist culture has socialized you to believe?
  • Are you doing the work to raise anti-racist children and/or teach other white kids in your sphere of influence how to be anti-racist?
  • Are you hiring, paying, amplifying and collaborating with Black professionals in your industry?
  • Are you spending money directly with Black people?
  • Are you directly supporting Black people in need? (With this one, I want you to reflect beyond money.)
  • How are you redirecting privilege and resources?

Many of the questions above were inspired by this graphic from Dasha Kennedy.

Remember, the work of repair MUST happen on large and small levels leading to meaningful change within systems and for individuals. It also needs to happen 365, not just on Juneteenth or during Black History Month.

If you're in community with me, then wellness/wellbeing is of interest to you. For my white wellness/wellbeing people, looking for ways to redistribute resources and support on a human-to-human level, here’s a 4 ways to do so for various budgets/situations:

  1. Hire Black Wellness Consultants + Facilitators: https://www.wellwithwoods.com/pages/eventwellnessservices
  2. Purchase wellness courses designed by Black yoga, breathwork, and meditation facilitators: https://www.wellwithwoods.com/online_store
  3. Watch YouTube videos by Black Wellness Creators subscribing ONLY to the ones you will continue watching, like all of the videos, comment on every video, and shop using affiliate links. Start HERE: https://stressrelief.openinapp.co/wavestowoods
  4. Help Black families impacted by an EF-3 tornado that shredded brick homes in St. Louis rebuild + recover: https://www.wellwithwoods.com/pages/stl-tornado-relief
  5. (BONUS) Shop Black people’s affiliate links. I don’t enjoy encouraging folks to shop with exploitative companies, but if you’re spending your money there for whatever reason (not my business), then at least send a few coins to a small Black-owned business by just clicking any link before you add any item to your cart: https://www.wellwithwoods.com/pages/contact/affiliate-links

Have the desire to share this with someone else? Feel free to click "share this blog post" below, but don't bring no white bodied people into my space that create chaos and are not doing healing work in relation to white bodied supremacy.

Now that that's out the way, it feels like time for some loving-kindness. Feel free to whisper internally or speak aloud:

May all beings be safe.

May all beings be protected.

May all beings be well.

May all beings be free.
